Who | Pumarosa
When | Monday, April 24
Where | Badehaus
For fans of: Blondie, Sunflower Bean
London-based quintet Pumarosa have been combining chanting, hypnotic vocals with Nile Rogers-esque guitars and saxophone over a disco beat since 2015.
Being the cheif architecht of the band, singer Isabel Munoz-Newsome writes songs using elements of early 80’s introspective postrock (think Joy Division or Siouxsie and the Banshees) and pairs it with the ecstasy of a packed dancefloor.
So, if you’re looking for a gig where you can do some crying/some dancing—or, like with all great dance music, do both at once—look no further.
Who | Hand Habits
When | Tuesday, April 25
Where | ACUD Macht Neu
For fans of: Waxahatchee, Mazzy Star, Cigarettes After Sex
Albany psysch-folk act Hand Habits is basically just the guitarist, singer-songwriter Meg Duffy doing what she does best, performing her gentle latenight takes on heartbreak and loneliness.
While writing and recording songs for her Hand Habits project, she also played live (and contributed guitars on albums) with Kevin Morby, Mega Bog and Weyes Blood. But now she’ll come to ACUD to play her own catchy-but-still-vulnerable compositions in front of a (hopefully quiet enough) Berlin audience.
