Berlin Gig Forecast | Day Wave + Bing & Ruth

Who | Day Wave

When | Tuesday, May 16

Where | Musik & Frieden

For fans of: Carousel, Wild Nothing, Søren Juul

You might recognize Jackson Phillips (aka Day Wave) as one half of the LA duo Carousel, particularly after listening to Day Wave‘s February debut, The Days We Had. Phillips has truly mastered the art of creating melancholic-yet-danceable synthpop with sweet melodic hooks. Basically, Day Wave‘s music works just as well on a dance floor at 1 AM as on a cloudy Sunday afternoon reading a novel in your PJs.

Who | Bing & Ruth

When | Sunday, May 21

Where | Grüner Salon

For fans of: Nils Frahm, Dustin O’Halloran, A Winged Victory for the Sullen

Bing & Ruth is an instrumental ensemble led by pianist and composer David Moore. The Brooklyn-based outfit makes introspective, minimalist music, quite reminiscent of Philip Glass in its seamless repetition. The piano serves as a stunning centerpiece on their latest release, No Home of the Mind, grounding the ambient soundscapes and lending a serenity to the compositions. With the beautiful, intimate Grüner Salon as a backdrop, Bing & Ruth‘s gig next week is sure to be a feast for the ears.
