Berlin Gig Forecast |Special Edition| : August Festivals Galore

A possible blessing in disguise, the dissolution of an official Berlin Music Week this year has made way for a number of fresh faces on the festival scene. Let’s just think of it as the rising of the phoenix: out of the ashes come more opportunities to dance your socks off. So without further ado, here is a Special Festival Edition of my Berlin Gig Forecast


Pop-Kultur

What
Essentially the new Berlin Music Week, Pop-Kultur is a multi-media and multi-platform festival including live acts, DJs, videos, workshops, and talks. Musical genres range from electronic to indie to experimental. Check out my previous post on the fest for more info.

East Side Music Days

What
The result of the former First We Take The Streets festival–which occurred in conjunction with Berlin Festival–East Side Music Days continues with the idea that the streets of Berlin are filled with musicians worth showcasing. In keeping with the ‘street’ theme, the fest will also include tasty, tasty street food stands.

By The Lake

What
Organized in part by members of the Danish band Efterklang, By The Lake is a new open-air festival (and indoor afterparty) with a focus on world/ambient/electronic/experimental music and rhythm as its driving force.
