Lucky for us, it seems as though 2015 will be the year of new festivals in Berlin. The newest addition to the list is Pop-Kultur, a 3-day fun-a-thon taking place August 26-28 at none other than the infamous Berghain. A multimedia festival by definition, Pop-Kultur still puts a very strong focus on the music side of things.
The lineup, released only just a couple of days ago, consists of an international smattering of artists and musicians from every walk of life. Highlights include gigs by Owen Pallett and Pantha du Prince, a premiere of the debut film by Berlin’s own Fenster, as well as an appearance by everyone’s favorite hobbit, Elijah Wood.
An interesting aspect of the festival is the ticket sale model: the festival schedule has been divided into ‘modules’ for which festival-goers will then buy individual tickets, essentially dispensing with the typical ‘festival pass’ system. On top of this, tickets will be sold at a totally manageable price of 5-25€ each, making it accessible for many of the hauptstadt’s underemployed hipsters.
Convinced? Presale begins tomorrow, April 29.
