Founded this year as a critical response to the aforementioned Pop-Kultur, Off-Kultur has forgone the big international names for a focus on local music. Melodica Festival

Melodica Festival is a lovely little acoustic music festival organized by and for singer-songwriters. A tight-knit network of musicians has made the festival possible in over a dozen international—primarily European—cities. They do a great job of creating an intimate living room concert atmosphere, with the musicians and fans all intermingling and supporting one another. This year they’ve invited a host of musicians from all over, but the must-see has got to be Iceland’s folk teddy bear, Svavar Knutur.
